* As with any other physical endeavor, the best way to avoid injury when practicing yoga is to not push yourself too hard. Find an instructor who can not only instruct you on the proper alignments, but who is also willing and able to help you adjust the poses to your body's needs. Yoga practiced in a moderately warm room may also help prevent injury.
