"West Side Wellness is kind of a magical place... They possess the secrets of an alchemy that turns knotted ropes of muscle into glorious, golden functionality." "The studio is beautiful; the atmosphere is quiet, calming, and I always appreciate the mellowing scent there as well as the particular sounds: from the music... to the sound of rain on the rooftop. This is a very special place." |

We are located across from Cru. We share a beautiful, free-standing brick building with the Providence Revolving Fund. There are two dedicated WSW parking spots, plus one disabled parking spot, in the parking lot we share with Planet Fitness. There's on-street parking on Winter Street, Cargill Street, and further west on West Fountain Street. If you have trouble walking, give us a heads up and we'll save you a spot in the parking lot. TIPS
Massage therapy is an art and a science — and it's also a service. We're committed to doing our best work regardless of tips, but if you have the means, we appreciate it! Tips are cash or venmo. Other ways to show your gratitude for our work: by coming back as soon as you can, and telling everyone you know about us.
MISSED APPOINTMENTS
We reserve your appointment time just for you. We require a full 24 hour notice if you have to cancel an appointment. This gives your therapist a chance to fill the appointment time. Call or text; we won't see email in time. Appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours notice will be charged 50% of the regular price of the scheduled session. If you arrive late, we reserve the right to shorten your appointment without a discount.
ILLNESS
Sometimes, massage isn't the best idea. We refuse treatment if we feel your condition would not be best served by bodywork, and/or if we feel your condition could transmit illness to us or other clients. In these cases, you won't be charged for your session. We don't charge you for same day sick cancels... please stay home if you're sick! However, we sometimes charge a small inconvenience fee for extreme last minute sick cancels, on a case by case basis.
PRECAUTIONS
Consult your health care professional if you have a condition (such as osteoporosis, heart or circulatory problems, diabetes, or cancer) that may require caution when receiving bodywork. Massage is not recommended for those with fever, acute infection, skin eruptions, pitting edema, or untreated high blood pressure. Other illnesses may result in temporary worsening of symptoms after massage. Call us before your appointment if you're uncertain.
KIDS & TEENS
Should be accompanied by an adult. A parent or guardian is required to sign a release for clients younger than 18.
DISCLAIMER
We are not able or authorized to diagnose any condition, to prescribe medications or food supplements, or to perform any treatment outside of our training as massage therapists. Any suggested further treatments or activities (such as visiting an acupuncturist, or stretching at home) are undertaken on your own, at your own risk, and we are not liable for the results of such activities.
SAFE SPACE
WSW has a zero tolerance policy for clients who seek sexual favors, are lewd, act aggressively, ignore professional boundaries, or otherwise make our workers feel unsafe or uncomfortable. Our office is a safe space, free from judgement or prejudice. We treat everyone with respect. We want everyone to feel comfortable here. Everything about your session is determined by you: the areas of your body we work on, your level of undress, and the amount of pressure we use. We strive to be LGBTQIA friendly; our bathrooms are private and non-gendered, and you can indicate your pronouns on our intake form. If you have any other questions or concerns, we're happy to talk. Just call.
ACCOUNTABILITY
We strive to provide a down-to-earth professional experience. Our goal is to be sure you know your needs have been heard, honored, and met. Bodywork is service, in the highest sense of the word. It's a cooperative effort between client and therapist. We want you to feel empowered to ask questions and give us feedback. Empowerment is what helps people heal.
ACCESSIBILITY
Our office is accessible to those with disabilities; we're listed on AccessibleRI. We have two hydraulic tables for clients who need help getting on the table. We have one bathroom that meets ADA requirements. Please alert us if you're sensitive to fragrances. We're not too hard to get to on RIPTA. If you have any different needs, let us know and we'll do our best to accommodate you.

YOUR FIRST SESSION
IT'S ALL ABOUT YOU!
Your time on the table is yours to direct; our job is to bear witness and hold space. Your feedback is always welcome, during a session or after it. It's how we know how we're doing. We mean it when we say we're here for ya!
BEFORE YOUR SESSION
Eat lightly, if at all. Hydrate well. Turn off your cell phone. Allow yourself ample transition time before and after your session.
DURING YOUR SESSION
Your treatment happens in a warm, peaceful, private room. First, we talk about how your body is doing and what type of treatment you prefer. If you're doing a draped session, your therapist leaves the room while you remove your garments, according to your comfort level. You’ll get cozy under the blanket and sheets on the warm massage table. For draped modalities, you'll always be covered with the sheet, except for the area being worked on. Remember that you can tell your therapist at any time if anything is uncomfortable, or if you’d like more or less pressure.
AFTER YOUR SESSION
Drink lots of water! Bodywork can release "toxins" (biochemical or emotional) from tissues: it brings up your shit. Drinking water helps flush these from the body. Give yourself some peaceful, quiet time after the session. You may feel achy or sore later that day. Some people find that the positive effects of bodywork unfold in the body over a few days. Rest. Come on back! The benefits of bodywork are cumulative. The more often you receive it, the better you will feel, and the faster your body will respond to the treatment. Treatment for chronic pain or injury recovery works best if it’s given in a series of sessions.
